The accident took place on a busy dual carriage-way in Newcastle. A large metal part fell from a passing Heavy Goods Vehicle, which was hauling a Road Rolling machine, at the time. The client, who was in a standard road vehicle, alongside the HGV, suffered extensive injuries, when the metal part fell from the HGV, smashed his windscreen and struck him in the face.
